Estimator
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for potential projects through hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating methods. This role requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of construction practices, and the ability to communicate effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects using various estimating methods, including hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating.
- Review and interpret contract documents, including plans, specifications, and addenda.
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs, organize pricing information, and develop cost breakdowns.
- Solicit bids and proposals from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive and comprehensive pricing.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with subcontractors and suppliers to clarify pricing and scope of work.
- Develop estimate formats, including general conditions, bidding analysis, and project take-offs.
- Assist in the preparation of preliminary project schedules and timelines.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support various estimating-related tasks and special projects.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and best practices in estimating.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in commercial construction estimating, with demonstrated proficiency in hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating.
- Proficiency in Timberline, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word with the ability to analyze and manipulate data effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, printers, phones, and copiers.
- Solid understanding of construction practices, methodologies, and cost structures.
