Compensation: $70,000 - $90,000 (DOE, bonus programs also available).

Employment terms: Full Time – Exempt

Role & Responsibilities:

  • The Packaging Manager is responsible for coordinating with the VP of Operations, assigned Project Managers, and the Packaging Supervisor to facilitate and oversee the completion of all tasks needed for packaging production to meet sales targets. In addition to their primary responsibilities, the Packaging Manager is expected to ensure that GMP and all regulatory requirements are followed within the packaging production areas.

Primary Duties (including, but not limited to):

  • Coordinating with the VP of Operations, assigned Project Managers, and the Packaging Supervisor to schedule daily labor by process to meet sales targets and minimize overtime costs.
  • Coordinating with the VP of Operations to establish daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual production KPIs within the packaging production departments (Vapes, concentrates, & edibles). Once the KPIs are established, the Packaging Manager is expected to manage and monitor production in order to meet and report these KPIs with regular frequency.
  • Monitoring, maintaining, and reporting all process data generated within the packaging departments during the course of daily production. Working with the VP of Operations on any observed data errors, outliers, or shifts in trends to stay ahead of potential issues for production.
  • Monitoring, maintaining, and reporting all inventory within the packaging departments in order to maintain compliance with all state regulations on traceability.
  • Overseeing the training programs within the packaging departments to ensure that all scheduled employees are properly trained on their assigned tasks and that these trainings are properly documented and recurring as needed by task.
  • Overseeing and maintaining all supply chain management within the Packaging department to ensure that production can continuously meet or exceed sales demand. Establishing par levels for critical supplies, placing supply requests as needed, and monitoring these requests to ensure that delivery timelines are appropriate.
  • Coordinating with the packaging teams, R&D department, and Quality Control department to establish new SOPs and to update existing SOPs as needed.
  • Analyzing and reporting on any data received to monitor safety, quality, delivery, and cost within the packaging production areas.
  • Facilitation of RCA/CAPA exercises as needed to remedy issues that occur within the packaging production areas.
  • Working with the Packaging Supervisor to complete all timecard management needed for Packaging Technicians to ensure that everyone is paid appropriately and on time.
  • Overseeing of the Preventative Maintenance program within the packaging production areas.
  • Working with the HR department to provide employee evaluations (30/60/90 & annual) to all employees within the Packaging department.
  • Working with the HR department to manage all performance or interpersonal issues within the Packaging department.
  • Data analysis associated with batch processing, cleaning, maintenance, etc.
  • Work well and effectively with fellow co-workers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision received: VP of Operations

Supervision given: Packaging Supervisor and all Packaging Technicians I - III.

Evaluation process: 30, 60, & 90-day evaluations as well as annual reviews following this initial evaluation period.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications for education, training, and prior experience:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to pass a background screening for employment within the CA cannabis industry.

Preferred skills & knowledge:

  • 2-3+ year working within a GLP or GMP environment.
  • 2-3+ year of hands-on experience packaging cannabis vape cartridges, cannabis concentrates, and cannabis edibles.
  • 2-3+ year of experience working directly within a laboratory, commercial kitchen, or similar GMP production setting.
  • 2-3+ year in a leadership or supervisory level position in any industry
  • Clear knowledge of and experience with the following regulatory & safety codes:

  • Ability to maintain internal inventory records.
  • Computer skills including cloud-based programs such as google sheets, docs, asana, etc.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Physical requirements:

  • Requires single lifting ability of ≤50 lbs.
  • Requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, and use of hands.
  • Frequently crouching, stooping, bending, and reaching.
  • Stand for short/ high periods of time.
  • Sit for short/ medium periods of time.
  • Walk for short/high periods of time.
  • Occasionally sit on the floor or at floor level.
  • Handle the responsibilities and routine stress often associated with this position.
