Chief Credit Officer/Acting Chief Lending Officer (January 2019 – Present); Vice President of Credit Administration

Oversee all aspects of credit risk/strategy, loan originations, portfolio management/performance, operations, collections, and related balance sheet management among other functions within the organization. Responsible for policy development and compliance, planning, budgeting, and directing the underwriting, processing, servicing, cash management and collections activities of these areas within the $1.5 Billion credit union. Provide oversight of Loan Committee, Credit Risk Committee and actively participate in ALCO.

• Provide credit coaching and training for lenders and underwriting staff, contributing to increased credit, and underwriting quality while surpassing production goals in excess of 180% of goal over the last 3 years

• Clean federal and state audits 3 years in a row, with 2018 receiving a “no findings” result from DFI/NCUA that supported DFI approval of an increase to the business lending cap of 2.15x net worth

• Consumer Collections increase in recoveries of 156% in 2016 (86% of total amount recovered after implementing new strategies in May of that year), and an additional 56% in 2017 with a further record breaking 2018; delinquency ratio has continued to steadily decline from excess of 1.0 in 2016 to historic lows ranging 0.16-0.18 by Q4 of 2019, despite increase in queue volume; this is further supported by clean audits the last 3 years. Currently boast the highest recoveries among Washington State credit unions.

• Chair of Senior Leadership Team since Jan. 2019, launched new team format that includes partnering with Executive Management to ensure/encourage a cohesive leadership team that fosters trust, transparency, and consistent messaging across the organization

• Created and launched new employee-based Equity & Inclusion Team within the organization, working closely with the CEO to ensure support, resources and inclusive messaging while providing leadership and guidance to the team

• Chair of IT Governance Committee (2017-2018), which makes overall estimates of resource needs, researches options that exist for differing platforms and systems, and recommends specific solutions. Reports to Executive IT Steering Committee responsible for setting IT strategic direction

• Created materials and training for the University of Washington Foster School of Business summer intern partnership with the credit union where students provide business counseling and finance options to women-, minority- and veteran-owned businesses, providing approximately $1 Million in small business loans through the credit union each year; resulting in a UW Corporate Partner of the year award in 2017

 

2013 – 2015

Vice President/Director of Business Services

Led the development and expansion of a new business lending program focused on business loans, credit cards, cash management, business accounts, merchant services and payroll processing. Directly responsible for building the lending team, infrastructure, policies, portfolio management/performance, operations and execution along the entire business services platform to include sales, marketing, budgeting, servicing, board reporting and early stage collections/work outs, working directly with the executive team. Acted as Chief Credit Officer, chairing loan committee and recommending all pricing and incoming loan requests.

• Led all small business and C&I/commercial real estate loan origination, increasing new loans by 38% in 2014 and doubling loan volume with net loan growth of 16% in 2015

• Secured SBA Lending Certification and successfully launched SBA program and servicing partner

• Launched a new Business Visa program with new products, BINS, and a new visa origination system

Provided full-service business banking while maintaining lasting relationships with clients and assisting them in all their banking needs. Focused on commercial & industrial and commercial real estate loan origination via outside calling and other direct marketing efforts.

• Recruited to be commercial representative and lead credit analyst trainer for the Puget Sound region after two bank acquisitions in 2010; directly handling merger integration working closely with the region’s five commercial lending offices, assisted in hiring and training new commercial analysts, further training lenders and analysts on underwriting, financial analysis & credit quality communications

• Worked with the FDIC ensuring adherence/management of the loss-share agreement within the acquired portfolios; developed/implemented/monitored budgets & business plans for underperforming companies while maintaining positive client relations & brand loyalty

• Assisted in building a new Business Banking Division, including brand/marketing efforts; in the first five months individually producing over $18 million in new loan packages
