Cannabis Controller Job Description
Our Client is seeking an experienced accountant to join the team in the role of controller. The controller will run the accounting operations, as well as supporting all employees involved in the accounting process, including financial accounting, cost accounting, inventory, and payroll.
Key Tasks:
- -Directing and coordinating all day-to-day accounting operational functions supporting a vertically integrated company comprising retail, wholesale, manufacturing and manufacturing operations.
- -Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures, using best practice in accordance with GAAP
- -Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions
- -Oversee all financial reporting and accurate documentation of financial statements including payroll, a/r, a/p, WIP, inventory control, fixed asset schedules, tax forms, balance sheets or income statements
- -Responsible for consolidation of financial statements across multiple legal and operating entities
- -Generate and approve monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc financial reporting including cash flows, proformas and projections and overhead cost allocations. Train, supervise, and develop accounting team members
- -Responsible for cash management/forecasting, banking, bank reconciliations, and reporting
- -Maintain internal control policies and procedures, working with external auditors to ensure compliance
- -Assist in preparation of operating and capital budgets
- -Assessing current accounting operations, offering support with development
- -Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
Knowledge and Abilities:
- -Solid communication, technology, analytical and accounting management skills
- -Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- -Accounting/business experience with retail, manufacturing, job costing, inventory control, WIP, transfer pricing and job cost accounting standards.
- -Knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles
- -Auditing, accounting, and corporate finance knowledge
- -Knowledge of limited partnerships, limited liability company and other legal entity formation and reporting.
- -Performance management skills
Education and Experience:
- -Bachelors’ degree in accounting, CPA preferred
- -Minimum 5 years’ experience in a job costing, manufacturing, retail, environment.
- -Experience working in a high growth company preferred
- -ERP and automated accounting systems experience required
- -Supervisory experience required
- -Proficient in Excel
- -Strong problem solving and organizational skills
