Build the Portfolio. Know the Business. Protect the Relationship.

A strong C&I Portfolio Manager understands that commercial lending is about far more than numbers on a spreadsheet. It is about knowing the borrower, understanding the business behind the financial statements, recognizing opportunity, and having the expertise to protect the institution while helping clients move forward.

We are seeking a knowledgeable and confident C&I Portfolio Manager to take ownership of a sophisticated commercial and industrial loan portfolio. This is a role for someone who takes pride in getting the details right, understands credit from both a strategic and analytical perspective, and knows how to balance sound risk management with exceptional client service.

What You’ll Own

  • Manage and monitor an assigned portfolio of C&I commercial relationships, ensuring sound credit quality, accurate reporting, and strong portfolio performance.

  • Conduct thorough financial analysis, including spreads, cash flow analysis, balance sheet and income statement review, debt service coverage, leverage, liquidity, and overall borrower capacity.

  • Review loan performance and identify emerging risks, covenant concerns, credit deterioration, or changes in borrower circumstances before they become larger problems.

  • Prepare and present thoughtful credit analyses, annual reviews, renewals, modifications, and other credit documentation.

  • Partner closely with Commercial Relationship Managers and lenders to structure, manage, and maintain quality commercial relationships.

  • Monitor covenant compliance, collateral requirements, borrowing bases, financial reporting, and other loan conditions.

  • Maintain a detailed understanding of individual borrowers, their industries, business models, ownership structures, and financial objectives.

  • Participate in loan approval and credit discussions, providing well-supported recommendations grounded in sound underwriting principles.

  • Identify portfolio trends and communicate meaningful risk observations to leadership and credit partners.

  • Assist with complex credits, problem loans, exceptions, restructures, and other situations requiring strong judgment and financial discipline.

  • Ensure portfolio administration remains accurate, timely, compliant, and consistent with established lending policies and regulatory expectations.

  • Build trusted working relationships across Credit, Commercial Banking, Loan Operations, and senior leadership.

  • Keep current on economic conditions, industry trends, market changes, and factors that may affect commercial borrowers and portfolio performance.

The Knowledge That Matters

The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of C&I lending, commercial credit, financial analysis, portfolio management, and risk assessment. You should be comfortable digging into financial statements, asking the right questions, identifying what the numbers are really telling you, and making informed recommendations.

You know that a healthy portfolio does not happen by accident. It requires discipline, curiosity, consistency, and the confidence to speak up when something does not look right.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field preferred.

  • Meaningful experience in commercial banking, commercial credit, underwriting, or portfolio management.

  • Strong C&I credit and financial analysis experience.

  • Excellent understanding of commercial loan structures, credit risk, cash flow, collateral, and covenant monitoring.

  • Ability to analyze complex financial information and turn it into clear, actionable conclusions.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.

  • Sound judgment and the confidence to make well-supported credit recommendations.

  • Ability to manage multiple relationships, deadlines, annual reviews, and portfolio responsibilities without losing sight of the details.

  • A professional, collaborative approach and genuine pride in doing excellent work.

The Right Mindset

This position is built for someone who knows their craft and takes pride in it. You are analytical without being rigid, confident without being careless, and detail-oriented without losing sight of the bigger picture.

You understand that every credit tells a story. Your job is to know that story, understand the risks, recognize the opportunities, and help ensure the portfolio remains healthy for years to come.

If you are a seasoned C&I credit professional who wants to be respected for your expertise and trusted with meaningful portfolio responsibility, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
