We are seeking an accomplished Civil General Superintendent to lead, coordinate, and oversee large-scale civil construction projects throughout the Springville and greater Utah region. This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned construction professional who thrives on organization, problem-solving, and leadership in the field, while maintaining a sharp eye on safety, quality, and schedule. The Civil General Superintendent will be the on-site visionary and operational commander, ensuring that every phase of a project—from site mobilization to final turnover—is executed flawlessly and efficiently.
About the Role
As the Civil General Superintendent, you will serve as the senior field leader for multiple projects simultaneously. You will be responsible for orchestrating complex construction operations, coordinating with trade partners, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams to ensure that every component of the project aligns with budget, schedule, and quality objectives. This role requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable navigating the challenges of civil infrastructure projects, including earthwork, concrete, underground utilities, roads, drainage, and site improvements.
This position is ideal for a construction professional who is not only deeply experienced in civil construction but also excels at mentoring field personnel, fostering collaboration, and driving accountability across all levels of the project team.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Field Management: Direct and supervise all aspects of civil construction projects in the field, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Safety Champion: Develop, enforce, and monitor site-specific safety programs and procedures, conducting regular inspections, toolbox talks, and proactive safety planning.
- Schedule Oversight: Create, maintain, and actively manage project schedules; anticipate potential delays and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all work meets or exceeds the company’s high standards of quality and complies with engineering and architectural specifications.
- Budget Management: Monitor project costs, track labor and material expenses, and work with project management to maintain financial control.
- Trade Partner & Subcontractor Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for subcontractors and trade partners, ensuring work is sequenced properly and meets contract requirements.
- Problem Solving & Decision Making: Address site issues quickly and effectively, leveraging technical knowledge and practical experience to minimize risk and disruption.
- Team Development & Mentorship: Mentor superintendents, foremen, and field staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed daily reports, field logs, and project documentation; communicate progress, challenges, and milestones to management and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10+ years of civil construction experience with progressive field leadership responsibilities, including multiple large-scale infrastructure or heavy civil projects.
- Proven track record managing projects of varying scope and complexity, including earthwork, site utilities, paving, concrete, and drainage systems.
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to lead diverse teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, quality control, and construction safety standards (OSHA/industry-specific regulations).
- Ability to interpret blueprints, plans, and technical specifications, and translate them into actionable field strategies.
- Proficiency with construction management software and reporting tools is preferred.
- Ability to travel to project sites throughout the region as needed.
