Commercial Lender
Location: Denton, TX
Compensation: $120,000–$150,000 (commensurate with experience)
Position Summary
The Commercial Lender is responsible for developing, managing, and growing a profitable commercial loan portfolio while delivering exceptional financial solutions to business clients throughout the Denton and North Texas markets. This role serves as a trusted advisor to middle-market and small business customers, providing credit expertise, relationship management, and strategic insight across a broad range of lending products, including C&I, owner-occupied and investor real estate, construction, and working capital facilities. The ideal candidate blends strong credit acumen with a polished, consultative sales approach and a deep understanding of local market dynamics.
Key Responsibilities

Originate, structure, underwrite, and close commercial loan transactions in accordance with bank credit policy, regulatory requirements, and sound risk management practices.

Develop and maintain long-term relationships with business owners, CFOs, CPAs, attorneys, and commercial real estate professionals to drive new business opportunities and portfolio growth.

Analyze financial statements, cash flow, collateral, and industry trends to assess creditworthiness and recommend appropriate loan structures and terms.

Prepare comprehensive credit memoranda and present loan requests to senior management and loan committees with clear risk assessments and well-supported recommendations.

Proactively manage an assigned loan portfolio, including annual reviews, covenant monitoring, credit renewals, and early identification of potential credit issues.

Partner with Treasury Management, Private Banking, and other internal teams to deliver integrated financial solutions that deepen client relationships and increase wallet share.

Ensure compliance with all applicable banking regulations, internal policies, and documentation standards.

Represent the bank in community and business development activities, enhancing brand visibility and market presence in Denton and surrounding areas.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or formal credit training preferred.

5+ years of experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, or relationship management within a bank or financial institution.

Demonstrated success in building and managing a commercial loan portfolio with a strong track record of new business development.

Advanced knowledge of commercial credit, financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, and loan structuring.

Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with the ability to interact confidently with business owners and senior executives.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, relationship-driven environment.

Familiarity with the Denton / North Texas market and local business community is highly desirable.
