Responsibilities
- The Controller leads the professional and technical support staff who are responsible for all aspects of Accounting and Finance team as it relates to construction projects across the Texas Region
- Ensures that individual development project ledgers and other construction accounting records are in accordance with GAAP and any other required basis of accounting
- Coordinates, trains and coaches internal and external personnel on Broaddus Construction procedures, processes, and policies
- Coordinates, prepares, and analyzes ad hoc reporting to Broaddus Construction Senior Management
- Provides guidance, mentoring, coaching, and training to team/co-workers
- Read and interpret operating agreements to make sure we are following requirements
- Performs and/or coordinates accounting for all construction projects
- Maintenance of project budgets in the system making sure the approved budgets are entered
- Process project change orders and budget revisions
- Update construction draw schedules
- Processing, reviewing, coding, tracking and general ledger posting of construction draws for multiple projects
- Work with project managers on variances from approved project budget
- Maintenance of promote/participation schedules making sure the calculations adhere to the specific project agreements
- Responsible for monthly development accruals and provide accurate cost information for construction valuations
- Coordinates the development and implementation of policies and procedures for construction projects
- Plans, prioritizes, and coordinates tasks to ensure completion of multiple assignments or project within prescribed timelines
- Interact with internal and external customers, other Broaddus team members, to ensure prompt resolution of issues and achieve maximum efficiency of operations
- Performs or coordinates analysis, considers alternatives and makes recommendations on complex construction transactions
- Serves as a consultant to management
- Collects, analyzes, and summarizes information and trends

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field required
- Ten years or more of accountant experience, preferably in the A/E/C industry
- MBA or CPA helpful, but not required
- Must have solid fundamental accounting skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with various levels of professionals inside and outside organization
- Demonstrated high level of flexibility, adaptability, and multi-tasking to meet deadlines
- Knowledge and understanding of internal controls
- Good interpersonal and communication skills within all levels of the organization
- Ability to adapt effectively to new and changing environment,
- Ability to research technical topics and draft supporting memos
- Construction accounting or finance: 3 years Required
