Shape Credit Strategy with Integrity, Precision, and Purpose

A respected and growth-oriented financial institution is seeking an accomplished Deputy Chief Credit Officer to help lead and strengthen its credit administration function across commercial, industrial, and real estate lending platforms. This executive leadership role is designed for a principled banking professional who combines deep credit expertise with sound judgment, operational discipline, and an unwavering commitment to ethical lending practices.

The Deputy CCO will serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership while helping preserve the institution’s credit culture, portfolio quality, and regulatory excellence. This role requires a thoughtful leader capable of balancing growth initiatives with prudent risk management in a highly relationship-driven environment.

This is more than a credit role. It is a stewardship position at the center of the bank’s long-term stability, reputation, and continued success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in overseeing the bank’s overall credit administration and loan portfolio management functions
  • Support the Chief Credit Officer in maintaining sound credit quality, policy governance, and regulatory compliance
  • Review and approve commercial lending relationships within delegated authority levels
  • Provide leadership and guidance to credit analysts, underwriters, portfolio managers, and lending teams
  • Ensure consistent application of underwriting standards, risk grading practices, and portfolio monitoring procedures
  • Participate in the development and refinement of credit policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks
  • Collaborate closely with commercial banking leadership to support responsible portfolio growth
  • Monitor loan concentrations, industry exposure, stress testing, and emerging portfolio trends
  • Assist with loan committee preparation, presentations, and executive credit reporting
  • Support internal and external examinations, audits, and regulatory relationships
  • Mentor and develop junior credit professionals while fostering a culture rooted in accountability, transparency, and ethical decision-making
  • Partner with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, market expansion opportunities, and enterprise risk considerations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Advanced banking or finance education preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive commercial credit experience within the banking industry
  • Prior leadership experience in credit administration, portfolio management, or senior underwriting required
  • Strong knowledge of commercial lending, CRE, C&I, agricultural lending, and regulatory banking standards
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex financial structures and borrower relationships
  • Exceptional understanding of risk management principles and credit quality metrics
  • Experience working with regulators, loan committees, and executive leadership teams
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical judgment

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is steady, analytical, and deeply respected for their integrity within the banking industry. They lead with consistency rather than ego, communicate with clarity under pressure, and understand that strong credit administration protects both the institution and the communities it serves.

They are equally comfortable navigating complex credit structures, mentoring future leaders, and contributing to executive-level strategic conversations. Their leadership style builds trust across departments while reinforcing a culture of accountability and responsible banking.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary ranging from $200,000 – $220,000
  • Executive incentive and bonus opportunities
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Retirement and 401(k) programs
  • Paid vacation and executive leave programs
  • Long-term leadership growth opportunity
  • Stable and highly respected banking platform
  • Collaborative executive environment with strong organizational values

Join a Bank Where Credit Leadership Matters

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced banking professional seeking a meaningful executive role where ethics, sound judgment, and relationship-driven leadership remain central to the institution’s identity. Here, credit is not viewed as a hurdle to growth, but as the framework that sustains it.
