We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join a respected construction team in Goldsboro, North Carolina. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator who understands that successful electrical construction starts long before the first wire is pulled. It starts with a thoughtful estimate, accurate takeoff, thorough planning, responsible budgeting, and an unwavering commitment to safety.

The ideal candidate brings strong electrical construction knowledge, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to develop competitive, accurate estimates while identifying potential risks before they become costly problems. You will play a critical role in evaluating plans and specifications, developing project costs, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, and helping ensure projects are set up for success from the very beginning.

Most importantly, safety is not an afterthought in this role. We are looking for someone who understands how estimating decisions affect field operations, manpower, scheduling, materials, equipment, and ultimately the safety of the people performing the work. Your experience should allow you to recognize potential hazards, unrealistic schedules, incomplete scopes, coordination issues, and other conditions that can create unnecessary risk in the field.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for electrical construction projects from conceptual design through final bid.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, addenda, bid documents, scopes of work, and project requirements.
• Perform comprehensive electrical quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs.
• Analyze project plans carefully to identify scope gaps, inconsistencies, conflicts, exclusions, and potential cost exposures.
• Solicit, evaluate, and compare pricing from electrical vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, and manufacturers.
• Develop competitive bids while maintaining appropriate margins and protecting the company from unnecessary financial and operational risk.
• Work closely with project managers, superintendents, engineers, clients, architects, vendors, and subcontractors throughout the estimating and preconstruction process.
• Assist with value engineering and constructability reviews to identify opportunities for efficiency without compromising quality or safety.
• Evaluate project schedules and anticipated manpower requirements.
• Identify long-lead electrical equipment and materials that could affect procurement, scheduling, or project execution.
• Maintain organized estimating documentation, bid tabs, takeoff information, vendor correspondence, and supporting cost data.
• Review historical project information and production costs to improve future estimates and forecasting accuracy.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, scope reviews, and turnover meetings.
• Help ensure that estimated scopes are clearly communicated to operations teams before work begins.
• Support project handoffs by identifying assumptions, exclusions, special conditions, and areas requiring additional attention.
• Maintain current knowledge of electrical construction costs, labor trends, material pricing, equipment requirements, and industry practices.
• Continuously look for ways to improve estimating procedures, consistency, accuracy, and efficiency.

You will be expected to consider safe means and methods, realistic production expectations, proper manpower, equipment needs, material handling, site conditions, sequencing, access, and coordination when developing estimates. • Proven experience estimating electrical construction projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, materials, labor requirements, and installation practices.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, specifications, schedules, details, and construction documents.
• Strong estimating, mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Experience with electrical takeoffs and estimating software.
• Ability to develop accurate labor and material pricing.
• Strong understanding of subcontractor and vendor procurement.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to see both the big picture and the tiny line item that everyone else missed.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids, deadlines, priorities, and changing project requirements.
• A practical understanding of field operations and how estimating decisions affect construction execution.
