Field Surveyor
Location: Boise, ID
Salary Range: $80,000 to $100,000
In the high desert light of Boise, where cranes sketch new skylines against wide skies, the Field Surveyor stands as the quiet authority of the jobsite. This role transforms digital models and construction documents into exact field reality, anchoring every trade to a shared coordinate truth from first control point to final as built.
The Surveyor is responsible for establishing and maintaining precise horizontal and vertical control while delivering accurate layout, verification, and documentation for building construction projects. Working closely with superintendents, project engineers, detailers, and trade partners, this position ensures structural, architectural, and MEP systems align with design intent, project tolerances, and schedule demands.
Technical & Field Responsibilities

Operate and maintain Trimble RTS and Robotic Total Station systems and data collectors

Utilize Trimble Access for control establishment, stakeout, verification, and as built capture

Establish, verify, and maintain site control networks including grid lines, benchmarks, building control, and elevation transfer

Perform building layout for foundations, concrete, embeds, anchor bolts, structural steel, framing, and MEP penetrations

Capture, process, and distribute as built data for structural, architectural, and MEP systems

Prepare and manage control points and coordinate files using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil 3D with building layout focused tools

Extract and verify layout data from Autodesk Revit models

Interpret structural and architectural drawings, shop drawings, and MEPF models

Perform calibration, adjustment, and routine maintenance of robotic total stations, digital levels, prisms, tripods, poles, and data collectors
Project Coordination

Coordinate layout and verification activities to support concrete placements, steel erection, framing, and MEP rough in

Support schedule driven layout needs and critical path milestones

Generate survey deliverables including control reports, FF and FL slab checks, settlement and movement monitoring, and comprehensive as built records

Verify dimensional compliance and proactively communicate discrepancies to project leadership
Safety & Professional Qualifications

OSHA 30 preferred

Ability to work safely in active construction environments including elevated decks and congested interiors

Certified or capable of certification on boom lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts, and standard jobsite equipment

Strong communication and documentation skills

Highly organized with proven ability to manage survey data and field records

Independent, solutions oriented, and collaborative with field and design teams
