Field/Project Engineer
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Compensation: $70,000 – $90,000 (DOE)
Industry: Construction
In the field where blueprints become skylines and coordination turns chaos into structure, the Field/Project Engineer is the quiet force translating plans into progress.
???? About the Role
We are seeking a driven, detail-obsessed, field-savvy Field/Project Engineer to serve as the connective tissue between office planning and on-site execution. This role is not for spectators—it’s for builders of momentum, problem solvers in boots, and engineers who can read a set of plans like a second language and speak “field reality” fluently.
You’ll support Project Managers and Superintendents in delivering high-quality commercial construction projects on time, on budget, and without surprises that weren’t already turned into solutions yesterday.
Think of yourself as part engineer, part coordinator, part detective—tracking down RFIs, submittals, layout questions, and constructability puzzles before they become field friction.
???? What You’ll Do
- Act as the on-site technical extension of the project team, bridging design intent with field execution
- Assist in managing RFIs, submittals, and document control with precision and urgency
- Support layout verification, quantity tracking, and field surveying coordination
- Collaborate closely with Superintendents to ensure work is built right the first time—not the second or third
- Coordinate with subcontractors to resolve conflicts, clarify scope, and maintain production flow
- Help maintain updated as-builts, drawings, and project documentation that actually reflect reality (not wishful thinking)
- Participate in weekly coordination meetings, site walks, and planning sessions where decisions become action
- Identify issues early—before they grow teeth—and drive solutions with clarity and speed
???? What You Bring
- Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field—or equivalent field experience
- 1–3+ years in commercial construction or field engineering support (internship experience considered)
- Strong understanding of construction documents, sequencing, and site logistics
- Ability to communicate clearly with both boots-on-the-ground crews and office-based teams
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and problem-solving is constant
- Detail orientation sharp enough to notice when a dimension is off by more than “just a little”
- A proactive mindset—you don’t wait to be told, you anticipate
???? Why This Role Matters
Every structure has invisible scaffolding—not just steel and concrete, but coordination, communication, and timing. As a Field/Project Engineer, you are part of that invisible system that keeps everything standing and moving.
When this role is done well, nobody notices. And that’s the highest compliment in construction.
???? What We Offer
- Competitive salary range: $70K–$90K DOE
- Growth pathway toward Project Manager or Superintendent track
- Exposure to complex, high-impact commercial projects across the Salt Lake region
- A field-first culture where initiative is valued more than hierarchy
- A team that respects builders who solve problems instead of passing them along
