GENERAL SUMMARY

 

The Portfolio Manager (“PM”) is responsible for maintaining and monitoring existing commercial loan portfolio and work closely with Team Manager/Relationship Manager.  PM is expected to maintain close contact with assigned clients and leverage the relationship to identify and bring in additional new business opportunities, both in loans and Bank’s other products and services. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Negotiate and structure the primary terms of the loan with the client; circulate concept memo as needed prior to issuance of term sheet/LOI.
  2. Work closely with Team Manager or Relationship Manager on the assigned loan portfolio by monitoring and managing the credit quality of such portfolio.
  3. Maintain and grow existing client relationships, cross-sell Bank’s other products and services.
  4. Work with underwriting team with the assistance from loan assistant and other loan support staff to prepare the Credit Commitment Report (“CCR”). 
  5. Review loan documents, work with loan assistants and loan support staff to ensure all necessary items needed for the closing of the loan is in process and well-managed.
  6. Ensure compliance with Bank, regulatory and credit requirements with emphasis on best-in-class customer service while adhering to required timeframes from the client.
  7. Assist with mentoring and coaching junior officers and loan staff.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Education:    U.S. College graduate with major in related fields.
  • Experience:  5-10 years of loan account relationship management and credit underwriting experience, or a combination of both. 
  • Thorough knowledge of lending regulations and credit/underwriting practices.  
  • Must have strong loan portfolio management experience specifically commercial real estate and construction credit.  Must possess strong loan negotiation (rates, terms, collateral requirements) experience.  
  • Must have strong knowledge and understanding of commercial and specialty group banking products and services and have demonstrated ability to cross-sell such products.
  • Skills/Ability: PC proficient.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Bilingual (English/Mandarin or Cantonese) a plus but not required.  Ability to work well independently to restructure loans and/or lines of credits.
