The Opportunity

We are looking for a Portfolio Manager who knows that a great commercial banking portfolio is more than a collection of loans and spreadsheets. It is a living book of relationships, risk, opportunities, and business decisions. If you enjoy digging into financials, understanding what makes a business tick, identifying risk before it becomes a problem, and helping lenders and clients make smart decisions, this could be an excellent next move.

This is a role for someone who can balance credit discipline with commercial savvy. You will work closely with Relationship Managers, lenders, credit partners, and clients to oversee an established portfolio, monitor performance, support relationship growth, and make sure the bank's assets remain healthy and well managed.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and monitor a portfolio of commercial loans and relationships from origination through maturity.

  • Review financial statements, tax returns, borrowing-base information, collateral documentation, covenant compliance, and other credit information.

  • Analyze borrower performance, cash flow, leverage, liquidity, profitability, and overall creditworthiness.

  • Identify emerging risks and opportunities before they become headline news.

  • Prepare and review annual and periodic credit reviews, renewals, modifications, and loan presentations.

  • Partner with Relationship Managers and lenders on portfolio strategy, client needs, and credit decisions.

  • Maintain strong knowledge of assigned borrowers, their businesses, industries, ownership structures, and financial trends.

  • Monitor covenant compliance and ensure exceptions, past dues, documentation issues, and other concerns are addressed promptly.

  • Assist with new loan requests, restructures, renewals, modifications, and other portfolio activity.

  • Evaluate changing financial conditions and recommend appropriate risk-management strategies.

  • Communicate credit findings clearly to lenders, senior management, credit committees, and other internal partners.

  • Maintain accurate and thorough portfolio documentation in accordance with bank policies and regulatory expectations.

  • Help identify opportunities to deepen existing relationships while maintaining sound credit standards.

  • Collaborate across departments to keep deals moving without sacrificing quality, accuracy, or prudent risk management.

  • Stay current on market conditions, economic trends, industry developments, and factors affecting the portfolio.

  • Serve as a trusted resource for lenders and internal teams when the numbers need a second set of eyes.

What We’re Looking For

  • Commercial banking, credit, underwriting, or portfolio management experience.

  • Strong understanding of commercial lending principles and credit risk.

  • Excellent financial statement and cash-flow analysis skills.

  • Ability to interpret complex financial information and turn it into clear, practical conclusions.

  • Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Comfortable managing multiple relationships, deadlines, and competing priorities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently while also functioning as a collaborative member of a high-performing banking team.

  • Sound judgment, integrity, and a genuine commitment to responsible lending.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field is preferred.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal Portfolio Manager is analytical without being robotic, relationship-minded without being reckless, and detail-oriented without getting buried in the details. You know when a number deserves a deeper dive, when a question needs to be asked, and when a good opportunity deserves a closer look.

You bring confidence to the credit process, communicate well with lenders and leadership, and understand that strong portfolio management is about protecting the bank while helping good businesses succeed.

If you are ready for a Portfolio Manager opportunity where your credit expertise, commercial judgment, and ability to see the whole picture will genuinely matter, this is one worth exploring.
