About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Project Cost Accountant to join our growing construction team in Salt Lake City, UT. This position plays a vital role in supporting project teams with accurate job costing, budget tracking, and financial reporting throughout the life cycle of construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to cost management in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Track and monitor all project-related costs, including labor, materials, subcontractor payments, and change orders.

• Work closely with project managers and field teams to maintain and update project budgets and forecasts.

• Prepare detailed cost reports and variance analyses to ensure financial alignment with project goals.

• Review and process invoices, purchase orders, and other financial documents with accuracy and timeliness.

• Assist in the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.

• Support the development of project cash flow forecasts and financial planning.

• Maintain compliance with internal financial controls and assist with audits as needed.

• Continuously improve cost tracking processes and tools to support operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• 2+ years of experience in construction accounting, project accounting, or a related field.

• Strong understanding of construction job costing, billing, and financial reporting.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; experience with construction management platforms (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, Sage) is a plus.

• Strong organizational and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.

• Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
