Ref #: 277

Salary: TBD
Sector: Construction
Type: Permanent

Salt Lake City, Utah | Salary: TBD

Build the Plan. Support the Team. Move the Project Forward.

We’re looking for a sharp, organized, and motivated Project Engineer to join a high-performing construction team in Salt Lake City. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys being where the details matter, the pace stays interesting, and every day brings another opportunity to solve a problem, improve a process, or help a project move one step closer to the finish line.

The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and field teams to support projects from preconstruction through completion. You’ll help keep information moving, documents organized, schedules progressing, and project details from falling through the cracks.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Support Project Managers and Superintendents throughout all phases of construction.
  • Assist with project documentation, submittals, RFIs, change orders, purchase orders, and other project correspondence.
  • Review plans, specifications, drawings, and contract documents for accuracy and coordination.
  • Track submittals, RFIs, material deliveries, approvals, and other critical project items.
  • Assist with project schedules and monitor milestones, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and consultants.
  • Help prepare project reports, meeting agendas, meeting minutes, logs, and documentation.
  • Assist with procurement activities, including pricing, purchase orders, and material coordination.
  • Review invoices, subcontractor documentation, and other project-related financial information.
  • Help identify potential conflicts, delays, scope gaps, and coordination issues before they become larger problems.
  • Participate in project meetings and help ensure action items are followed through to completion.
  • Maintain accurate project records and keep information accessible to the people who need it.
  • Support closeout activities, punch lists, warranties, as-builts, and turnover documentation.
  • Visit jobsites as needed to understand project progress and help connect office coordination with field execution.
  • Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and communicate early when something needs attention.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Construction experience in a Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, Project Assistant, or similar role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent construction experience will be considered.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, plans, specifications, and project workflows.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Comfortable working with multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and understand project requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction project management software.
  • Procore experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both office and field personnel.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and follow-through.
  • Professionalism, accountability, curiosity, and a genuine desire to learn and grow.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You’re the person who notices the missing detail before it becomes a headache. You can read a set of plans, follow a conversation with a subcontractor, organize a stack of project documentation, and still keep your eye on the schedule.

You understand that successful construction is a team sport. You know when to ask questions, when to dig deeper, and when to simply get something done. You’re comfortable with structure, but you can adapt when construction inevitably decides to throw a curveball into the afternoon.

Most importantly, you want to build a career, not simply occupy a position. This role offers the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge, strengthen your project management skills, and become an increasingly valuable part of the project team.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

Great Project Engineers create order in an industry where a lot of moving pieces are happening at once. Your work helps the field team stay productive, helps the Project Manager stay informed, and helps the entire project team make better decisions.

If you’re organized, construction-minded, professionally curious, and ready to take the next step in your career, this could be a great place to put your skills to work.
