Project Engineer

Ref #: 240
Location: Utah Utah 84070
2026-09-29
Salary: 70,000 USD - 85,000 USD
Sector: Construction
Type: Permanent

???? Sandy | ???? $70,000 – $85,000

Some roles sit in offices and watch construction happen through screens. This is not that species of role.

This Project Engineer position lives closer to the dust line, where plans turn into steel, concrete, utilities, schedules, and the occasional “how did that even happen?” moment that gets solved before lunch.

You’ll be the connective tissue between field crews, project managers, subs, and design teams. Think of yourself as the translation layer between blueprints and reality, where precision meets pace and coordination becomes a kind of controlled chaos orchestration.

What You’ll Actually Do (Beyond the Job Title Gravity)

You’ll support Project Managers in delivering commercial, civil, or heavy construction projects from kickoff to closeout. That includes:

  • Coordinating RFIs, submittals, and plan clarifications before they become field problems
  • Tracking schedules, budgets, and production updates with near-obsessive clarity
  • Partnering with superintendents to keep field operations aligned with the plan (and reality checks)
  • Managing documentation flow so nothing gets lost in the construction ecosystem
  • Assisting with procurement tracking, change orders, and vendor coordination
  • Walking job sites regularly, because “on paper” is never where the truth fully lives
  • Helping keep safety, quality, and sequencing from drifting off course

You’re not just supporting projects. You’re helping keep them from splintering into expensive surprises.

What Makes You Dangerous (In the Best Way)

We’re looking for someone who can think in both directions at once: detail-precise and big-picture aware.

  • 2–5+ years in construction, engineering, or project coordination
  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar field (or equivalent field experience that speaks louder than paper)
  • Comfortable reading drawings like they’re a second language
  • Proficient in tools like Procore, Bluebeam, Excel, or similar platforms
  • Calm under pressure when schedules tighten and site conditions improvise
  • Naturally organized, even when the project is not
  • Strong communicator who can speak “field” and “office” without translation delay

What You Step Into

This is a role where your fingerprints show up everywhere, even if your name doesn’t. You’ll learn how projects actually get built, not just how they’re supposed to be built in theory.

Expect exposure to complex builds, fast-moving coordination environments, and teams that value solutions over noise.

Compensation & Environment

  • $70K – $85K base salary
  • Growth path toward Project Manager and beyond
  • Hands-on mentorship from seasoned builders who’ve seen every type of schedule collapse and recovery
  • Field-forward culture where problem-solving beats bureaucracy
  • Work environment split between job sites, trailers, and coordination hubs

This is the kind of role where you don’t just learn construction. You absorb it at full volume.
