Build Your Career Where the Details Actually Matter

Construction is full of moving parts. Plans change, schedules shift, materials show up late, someone discovers something nobody saw on the drawings, and suddenly everyone is looking for the person who knows what is happening next.

That’s where you come in.

We’re looking for a Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager who understands that great construction is built twice: first on paper, then in the field. This is an opportunity for a detail-oriented, organized, construction-minded professional who enjoys keeping projects moving, solving problems before they become fires, and working alongside experienced Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, owners, and field teams.

If you like construction, but also like spreadsheets, schedules, documentation, coordination, communication, and the occasional controlled chaos, this could be your kind of seat.

What You’ll Do

As a Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager, you’ll become an important part of the project team from preconstruction through closeout. You’ll help keep information moving, paperwork organized, decisions documented, and the project marching toward the finish line.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Assist Project Managers with the daily administration and coordination of construction projects.

  • Review project plans, specifications, contracts, drawings, and other project documents.

  • Help coordinate subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, consultants, and internal teams.

  • Prepare, track, and distribute RFIs, submittals, transmittals, change orders, and other project documentation.

  • Maintain accurate project logs and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Assist with project schedules, updates, procurement tracking, and milestone coordination.

  • Review subcontractor and vendor documentation for completeness and accuracy.

  • Help track budgets, commitments, purchase orders, invoices, and project costs.

  • Assist with change management and help identify potential cost or schedule impacts.

  • Participate in project meetings and make sure action items do not disappear into the construction Bermuda Triangle.

  • Communicate project updates to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Coordinate closely with field Superintendents to ensure office and field teams have the information they need.

  • Help monitor project progress and identify potential issues before they become expensive problems.

  • Assist with project closeout, punch lists, warranties, O&M documentation, and final turnover.

  • Maintain organized electronic and physical project files.

  • Support safety, quality, scheduling, and contractual requirements.

  • Help manage multiple priorities while keeping the important details from falling through the cracks.

  • Take on additional responsibilities as your knowledge, confidence, and project experience grow.

The Personality We’re Looking For

This role is about more than knowing how to read a set of plans. We’re looking for someone who is curious, accountable, organized, and comfortable asking questions.

You should be the person who notices when a document is missing, catches a discrepancy before it becomes a field problem, follows up when someone forgets to respond, and actually enjoys checking something off a list.

You don’t need to know everything on day one. You do need to be willing to learn.

The ideal candidate is:

  • Organized: You know where things are, what is due, and what needs attention next.

  • Detail-oriented: You catch the little things because little things have a funny habit of becoming big things.

  • Communicative: You can talk with field personnel, executives, subcontractors, vendors, and everyone in between.

  • Proactive: You don't wait for every problem to knock three times before addressing it.

  • Analytical: You can look at drawings, schedules, costs, and documentation and understand how the pieces fit together.

  • Reliable: When you say you’ll handle something, you handle it.

  • Adaptable: Construction rarely follows a perfectly straight line, and neither does the workday.

  • Team-oriented: Great projects require collaboration, not lone-wolf heroics.

  • Ambitious: You’re interested in building a career, not simply filling a chair.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Previous construction experience in a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Project Coordinator, or similar role preferred.

  • Understanding of construction plans, specifications, schedules, contracts, and project documentation.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.

  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk, Primavera P6, or similar platforms is a plus.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects, deadlines, and competing demands.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and professional judgment.

  • Ability to work effectively with both office and field personnel.

  • A willingness to learn the business from the ground up and grow into increased project responsibility.

Why This Opportunity?

Because this isn't just a paperwork position.

This is a career-building opportunity for someone who wants to develop into a Project Manager and eventually take ownership of increasingly complex construction projects. You’ll gain exposure to project financials, scheduling, contracts, subcontractor management, procurement, field operations, client communication, and everything else that makes a construction project actually work.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn from experienced construction professionals while becoming a trusted part of the project team.

And if you’re the type who gets a strange amount of satisfaction from turning a messy project spreadsheet into something beautiful and organized, well... we should probably talk.

Compensation

$90,000–$115,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

If you’re ready to move beyond simply assisting and start building the knowledge, relationships, and project leadership skills that can take you toward Project Manager, this is a chance to put your career in motion.

Bring the construction knowledge. Bring the questions. Bring the organizational superpowers.

We’ll bring the projects.
