We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Project Manager to join a respected construction team in Salt Lake City. This is an opportunity for a proven construction professional who understands that successful projects require more than schedules and spreadsheets. They require strong leadership, clear communication, disciplined planning, financial awareness, and the ability to keep everyone moving toward the same finish line.
The Project Manager will take ownership of assigned projects from preconstruction through closeout, working closely with clients, owners, architects, subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, and internal leadership. The ideal candidate is confident managing multiple priorities, comfortable making decisions, and capable of identifying potential issues before they become expensive problems.
What You'll Do
- Manage construction projects from initial planning and buyout through completion, turnover, and closeout.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, scopes of work, and project documentation.
- Coordinate closely with Superintendents and field teams to ensure work progresses safely, efficiently, and according to contract requirements.
- Review plans, specifications, contracts, scopes, and project documents to identify potential conflicts, omissions, and areas requiring clarification.
- Manage project budgets, cost tracking, commitments, change orders, pay applications, billing, and financial reporting.
- Lead subcontractor and vendor coordination, including procurement, contract administration, scheduling, and performance management.
- Maintain strong relationships with owners, clients, design professionals, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Prepare, review, and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, schedules, and other project correspondence.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address scheduling, budget, quality, procurement, and coordination concerns.
- Participate in project meetings and provide clear updates regarding schedule, cost, progress, risks, and upcoming milestones.
- Review subcontractor invoices and pay applications for accuracy and compliance with contract requirements.
- Assist with estimating, budgeting, value engineering, and preconstruction activities as needed.
- Coordinate material procurement and help ensure long-lead items are identified and ordered in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate project records and ensure documentation remains organized throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with accounting and leadership to maintain accurate financial information and project reporting.
- Assist with negotiations and resolution of project issues while maintaining professionalism and protecting the company's interests.
- Support quality-control efforts and ensure construction activities align with project documents and established standards.
- Help drive projects toward successful completion while maintaining strong client relationships and protecting project profitability.
- Participate in project closeout, punch-list completion, warranty coordination, final documentation, and turnover.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate brings solid commercial construction experience and a demonstrated ability to manage projects with professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail. You should be comfortable balancing the big picture with the many moving pieces that make up a successful construction project.
Qualifications include:
- Previous experience managing construction projects from start to finish.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, scheduling, contracts, budgeting, and project administration.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong knowledge of subcontractor coordination and construction sequencing.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to build productive relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to identify project risks and develop practical solutions.
- Strong attention to detail without losing sight of overall project objectives.
- Proficiency with construction management and project-management software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional approach to client service, project documentation, and team leadership.
The Right Fit
We are looking for someone who takes ownership. You don't have to have every answer immediately, but you do need to know how to find the answer, communicate the issue, and keep the project moving.
The right Project Manager is organized without being rigid, confident without being difficult, and proactive rather than reactive. You understand that construction is a team sport and that successful project management means keeping field operations, financial performance, schedules, clients, and subcontractors aligned.
If you are a construction professional who enjoys taking a project from the first set of plans to the final walk-through and takes pride in delivering work the right way, this could be an excellent opportunity to put your experience to work.
