Crunch the Numbers. Challenge the Assumptions. Know the Story Behind the Numbers.

If you believe a balance sheet is more than a collection of numbers, and that great credit decisions require curiosity, experience, judgment, and a healthy dose of skepticism, this could be your kind of seat.

We’re looking for a sharp, analytical, and highly experienced Senior Credit Analyst to join a team where thoughtful credit work directly influences important business decisions. This is not a role for someone who simply checks boxes and moves numbers from one spreadsheet to another. We’re looking for someone who understands the story behind the numbers, knows how to identify emerging risk, and can confidently translate complex financial information into clear credit recommendations.

As a Senior Credit Analyst, you’ll serve as a trusted credit resource for lenders, relationship managers, credit officers, and leadership. You’ll analyze new and existing commercial relationships, evaluate complex financial information, assess repayment capacity, identify risk, and help structure sound credit solutions.

You’ll bring both analytical horsepower and practical judgment to the table. In other words, you’ll know when the numbers tell the whole story, when they absolutely do not, and what questions need to be asked before a credit decision is made.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform detailed financial analysis and underwriting for complex commercial credit relationships.

  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, projections, borrowing base information, cash-flow statements, and other financial data.

  • Evaluate borrower performance, liquidity, leverage, profitability, working capital, cash flow, and debt service capacity.

  • Prepare comprehensive credit analyses, underwriting packages, approval memos, annual reviews, renewals, and presentations.

  • Review credit requests and independently identify strengths, weaknesses, trends, risks, mitigants, and opportunities.

  • Partner with lenders and relationship managers on credit structure, pricing, terms, covenants, collateral, and overall transaction strategy.

  • Analyze collateral values, guarantor support, industry conditions, management strength, and other qualitative and quantitative risk factors.

  • Monitor existing portfolios and proactively identify changes that could impact borrower performance or credit quality.

  • Conduct research on industries, markets, businesses, and economic conditions to provide meaningful context around financial performance.

  • Review complex transactions and provide thoughtful recommendations to credit leadership and decision-makers.

  • Assist with portfolio management, risk-rating assessments, covenant monitoring, and problem-credit identification.

  • Ensure credit decisions and recommendations are thoroughly supported, accurately documented, and consistent with established policies and risk standards.

  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource to less-experienced analysts and help promote strong credit analysis practices across the team.

  • Communicate credit findings, recommendations, and concerns clearly to lenders, senior credit officers, and executive leadership.

  • Ask the questions others may overlook and investigate the answers before they become larger problems.

  • Balance relationship objectives with disciplined risk management and sound banking judgment.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Several years of progressive commercial credit analysis, underwriting, or portfolio management experience.

  • Strong understanding of commercial lending, credit risk, financial analysis, and underwriting principles.

  • Advanced ability to analyze financial statements, cash flow, tax returns, projections, and complex business structures.

  • Strong understanding of leverage, liquidity, profitability, debt service coverage, working capital, and repayment capacity.

  • Experience evaluating commercial borrowers across multiple industries and business models.

  • Knowledge of collateral analysis, guarantor support, loan structuring, covenants, and risk ratings.

  • Ability to recognize trends, inconsistencies, and emerging risks before they become obvious.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities without sacrificing accuracy.

  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis capabilities.

  • Ability to work independently while serving as a collaborative partner to lenders and credit leadership.

  • Sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to challenge assumptions when the numbers warrant a second look.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field preferred.

The Senior-Level Mindset

You don’t have to be the loudest person in the room. In fact, we’d rather have the person who notices the one number everyone else skipped.

You’re analytical without being robotic, skeptical without being cynical, and confident enough to ask, “Wait, how does this actually work?”

You understand that senior-level credit analysis isn't about finding reasons to say no. It’s about understanding the entire picture, identifying the real risks, recognizing the opportunities, and giving decision-makers the information they need to make responsible, informed decisions.

You’re comfortable challenging a deal when something doesn’t make sense, but you’re equally comfortable finding creative and responsible solutions when the fundamentals are strong.

You know that businesses are constantly changing, markets shift, industries evolve, and a borrower who looked perfect twelve months ago may tell a very different story today. You pay attention. You investigate. You connect the dots.

Why This Role Matters

Great credit decisions don't happen by accident.

They happen because someone took the time to understand the business, dig beneath the surface, challenge the assumptions, and make sure the numbers actually tell a believable story.

As a Senior Credit Analyst, your work will help shape lending decisions, protect portfolio quality, support strong client relationships, and provide critical insight to the people making some of the organization's most important decisions.

If you like numbers, business strategy, financial detective work, and being the person people trust when the spreadsheet gets complicated, this is a role worth investigating.
