Position Overview

As our Superintendent – Utilities, you will be the boots-on-the-ground leader ensuring our underground utility projects are executed with precision, efficiency, and safety. From coordinating crews and subcontractors to overseeing trenching, piping, and backfill operations, you’ll be the critical hub where field operations meet strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily on-site operations for underground utility projects (water, sewer, storm drain, power, gas, telecom).

• Coordinate and supervise field crews, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project milestones are met on schedule.

• Interpret blueprints, site plans, and project specifications with clarity and confidence.

• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations, city standards, and environmental requirements.

• Communicate effectively with project managers, inspectors, engineers, and municipal representatives.

• Solve problems on the fly—adjusting field strategy as needed to keep operations moving forward.

• Monitor production rates, material deliveries, and workforce efficiency.

• Conduct site safety meetings and proactively lead a culture of accountability and safety.

• Track daily field reports, maintain documentation, and contribute to project forecasting.

What You Bring to the Table

• 5+ years of experience in utility construction or civil infrastructure.

• Proven success as a Superintendent or Foreman leading underground utility projects.

• Deep understanding of excavation, shoring, pipe installation, trench safety, and compaction practices.

• Strong knowledge of local codes and permitting processes (Salt Lake City and surrounding areas).

• A leadership mindset with excellent communication, conflict resolution, and team-building skills.

• Comfortable navigating tight deadlines and changing site conditions.

• Proficient with tablets, field software, and project documentation tools.

• OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain quickly).

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
