Surveyor
Location: Boise, ID
Salary Range: $80,000 – $100,000
The Surveyor is responsible for establishing and maintaining precise horizontal and vertical control and providing accurate layout, verification, and as-built documentation for building construction projects. This role works closely with superintendents, project engineers, detailers, and trade partners to ensure structural, architectural, and MEP installations align with design intent, project tolerances, and schedule requirements. The Surveyor supports construction operations through high-accuracy field measurements, control networks, and data management while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Technical & Field Responsibilities

Operate and maintain Trimble RTS / Robotic Total Station systems and data collectors

Utilize Trimble Access for control establishment, stakeout, verification, and as-built capture

Establish, verify, and maintain site control networks including grid lines, benchmarks, building control, and elevation transfer

Perform building layout for foundations, concrete, embeds, anchor bolts, steel, framing, and MEP penetrations

Capture, process, and distribute as-built data for structural, architectural, and MEP systems

Prepare and manage control points and coordinate files using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil 3D (building-layout focused tools)

Extract and verify layout information from Autodesk Revit models

Interpret construction documents including structural and architectural drawings, shop drawings, and MEPF models

Perform instrument calibration, adjustment, and routine maintenance (robotic total station, auto/digital levels, prisms, tripods, poles, data collectors)
Project Coordination

Coordinate layout and verification activities with superintendents, project engineers, and trade partners to support concrete placements, steel erection, framing, and MEP rough-in

Support schedule-driven layout needs and critical path activities

Generate survey deliverables including control reports, slab flatness (FF/FL) checks, settlement and movement monitoring, and as-built records

Verify dimensional compliance and report discrepancies or conflicts to project leadership
Safety & Compliance

OSHA 30 preferred

Work safely in active construction environments including elevated decks, crane swing zones, and congested interiors

Certified or capable of certification for boom lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts, and standard jobsite equipment

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Highly organized with the ability to manage control networks, survey data, and field documentation

Proven problem-solving ability to resolve dimensional conflicts and unclear or incomplete design information

Ability to work independently while coordinating closely with field leadership and design teams
