SVP Commercial Lender
Richardson, TX | $180,000–$225,000
The Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced SVP Commercial Lender who knows commercial banking is about much more than moving numbers from one spreadsheet to another. This is a relationship-driven leadership opportunity for a seasoned lender who can build a book of business, develop meaningful client relationships, uncover opportunities, structure sophisticated financing solutions, and confidently guide deals from conversation to closing.
You’ll be the kind of banker clients call when the situation is complicated, the opportunity is significant, and “let me get back to you” simply isn’t good enough. You understand the market, you understand credit, and you understand that great commercial lending is equal parts financial expertise, business development, judgment, and knowing when to ask the right question.
This role is ideal for a commercially minded banking professional who enjoys being out in the market, building relationships, winning new business, deepening existing relationships, and serving as a trusted financial partner to established businesses and their owners.
What You’ll Do
-
Develop, manage, and grow a profitable commercial loan portfolio while maintaining strong asset quality.
-
Identify and pursue new commercial lending opportunities through networking, referrals, centers of influence, existing relationships, and active business development.
-
Build long-term relationships with business owners, executives, developers, investors, and other commercial clients.
-
Analyze client financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, debt structure, collateral, industry trends, and overall creditworthiness.
-
Structure and negotiate commercial loans that appropriately balance client needs, risk, pricing, terms, and profitability.
-
Lead transactions from initial prospecting and discovery through underwriting, approval, documentation, closing, and ongoing relationship management.
-
Partner closely with credit, loan operations, treasury management, and other banking teams to deliver a coordinated client experience.
-
Cross-sell treasury management, deposit, cash management, and other financial products when they genuinely benefit the client.
-
Monitor existing relationships and portfolios for changing financial conditions, emerging risks, covenant concerns, and additional opportunities.
-
Maintain a strong understanding of local and regional economic conditions, competitive banking environments, and industry trends.
-
Participate in community, industry, and professional organizations to increase visibility and expand the commercial banking network.
-
Maintain detailed, accurate, and timely customer and pipeline information.
-
Ensure lending activity follows established policies, regulatory requirements, risk standards, and internal procedures.
-
Collaborate with senior leadership on market strategy, portfolio growth, relationship development, and overall commercial banking objectives.
-
Serve as a trusted resource to clients by understanding their businesses rather than simply understanding their balance sheets.
What Makes You a Great Fit
You’re an experienced commercial lender with the confidence to walk into a room full of executives and talk business, not just banking. You know how to develop relationships without making every conversation feel like a sales pitch. You can identify a quality opportunity, recognize a questionable one, and explain the difference without needing a decoder ring.
The ideal candidate will bring:
-
Significant commercial lending and relationship management experience.
-
A proven history of business development and portfolio growth.
-
Strong credit analysis and financial statement analysis skills.
-
Experience structuring and negotiating complex commercial credit facilities.
-
Excellent understanding of commercial loan products, credit policy, risk management, and banking regulations.
-
Strong knowledge of cash flow analysis, collateral evaluation, guarantor support, and repayment sources.
-
A demonstrated ability to develop relationships with business owners and senior executives.
-
Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and organizational skills.
-
Sound judgment and the ability to make thoughtful decisions in a fast-moving environment.
-
A professional presence combined with an approachable, relationship-first personality.
-
Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, economics, or a related field preferred.
The Personality
This position needs someone who can hunt without being pushy, advise without being preachy, sell without sounding salesy, and manage risk without putting every opportunity in a straightjacket.
You should enjoy meeting people, understanding businesses, solving problems, and turning conversations into relationships. You’re comfortable owning your portfolio, accountable for your results, and motivated by the opportunity to make an impact in the market.
If your idea of a good day includes meeting a business owner, uncovering what they actually need, structuring a creative financing solution, winning the relationship, and still having enough energy left to think about the next opportunity, this could be your kind of banking seat.
Compensation
$180,000–$225,000 base salary, with the opportunity for additional performance-based compensation and incentives depending on experience, production, portfolio, and overall fit.
Location: Richardson, Texas
This is an opportunity for a proven commercial banking professional to bring relationships, expertise, creativity, and leadership to a role where the work is visible, the relationships matter, and the ceiling is considerably higher than simply maintaining the status quo.
