The Senior Vice President, Relationship Manager serves as a senior-level rainmaker and trusted advisor, responsible for originating, managing, and expanding a sophisticated commercial banking portfolio while delivering exceptional service to high-value clients. This role blends strategic business development with deep credit acumen and relationship stewardship, acting as the primary point of contact for middle-market and upper-middle-market companies, their owners, and professional advisors.

The SVP Relationship Manager is expected to cultivate long-term partnerships, identify complex financial needs, and structure tailored solutions across lending, treasury management, deposits, and ancillary banking services. With a consultative mindset and executive presence, this individual represents the bank in the marketplace, strengthens referral networks, and drives profitable growth while upholding the highest standards of credit quality, compliance, and client experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a robust portfolio of commercial relationships, with full responsibility for revenue growth, credit quality, and client retention.

  • Proactively originate new business through centers of influence, professional networks, community involvement, and strategic calling efforts.

  • Serve as the lead advisor to clients, gaining a deep understanding of their businesses, industries, ownership structures, and long-term objectives.

  • Structure and negotiate complex credit facilities, deposits, and treasury solutions in partnership with Credit, Underwriting, and Product teams.

  • Present well-supported credit proposals to loan committees, demonstrating sound risk assessment, financial analysis, and policy adherence.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior relationship managers and analysts, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration.

  • Act as an ambassador for the institution, enhancing the bank’s reputation across Newport, San Gabriel, Ontario, and the broader Southern California market.

  • Ensure all relationships are managed in accordance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and best-in-class risk management practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive commercial banking experience, with a proven track record of managing and growing large, complex client portfolios.

  • Demonstrated expertise in credit analysis, deal structuring, and relationship management at the senior or executive level.

  • Strong business development orientation with an established network in Southern California.

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to interact confidently with C-suite executives, owners, and boards.

  • High integrity, sound judgment, and a leadership style that inspires trust and long-term partnership.
