Position Overview

The Senior Vice President, Relationship Manager is responsible for originating, structuring, and expanding a profitable commercial banking portfolio while maintaining disciplined credit quality and exceptional client retention. This role blends revenue generation with balance-sheet stewardship, operating with clear targets, defined risk parameters, and measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a commercial loan and deposit portfolio typically ranging from $150MM–$300MM in total commitments.

  • Generate $15MM–$30MM+ in annual loan production, aligned with portfolio yield and risk-adjusted return targets.

  • Achieve annual deposit growth of $10MM–$25MM, with emphasis on core, operating, and treasury-related balances.

  • Maintain portfolio credit quality with non-performing assets below peer benchmarks and proactive risk mitigation.

  • Structure credit facilities including C&I, owner-occupied and investor CRE, lines of credit, term loans, and treasury solutions.

  • Lead deal strategy, pricing, and negotiations while ensuring compliance with internal credit policy and regulatory standards.

  • Partner with Credit, Treasury Management, Private Banking, and Operations to deliver integrated client solutions.

  • Conduct annual and interim reviews, covenant monitoring, and ongoing portfolio analytics.

  • Mentor junior relationship managers and associates, supporting production goals and professional development.

  • Represent the bank externally through targeted business development, COI relationships, and market presence in Greater Los Angeles.

Performance Metrics

Success in this role is measured by:

  • Loan and deposit growth versus annual targets

  • Net interest margin and fee income contribution

  • Credit quality indicators (risk ratings, past dues, NPAs)

  • Client retention and cross-sell penetration

  • Compliance, audit, and regulatory examination outcomes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field required; MBA or equivalent preferred.

  • 10+ years of commercial banking or relationship management experience with demonstrated production success.

  • Proven track record managing large, complex commercial relationships.

  • Strong credit acumen with the ability to independently underwrite and structure transactions.

  • Deep understanding of the Los Angeles commercial banking market and competitive landscape.

  • Advanced financial statement analysis and cash flow modeling skills.

  • Professional presence with disciplined execution and sound judgment.
