As a key member of the commercial banking team, you will oversee a diverse portfolio of commercial clients while cultivating new business opportunities across multiple industries. You'll collaborate with executive leadership, credit professionals, treasury management, and retail banking teams to deliver customized financial solutions that help local businesses grow and succeed.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, manage, and expand a profitable portfolio of commercial banking relationships.
  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, referrals, community involvement, and strategic prospecting.
  • Structure and negotiate commercial loans including C&I, owner-occupied real estate, investment real estate, construction, lines of credit, equipment financing, and working capital facilities.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis including cash flow evaluation, collateral assessment, industry trends, and overall creditworthiness.
  • Prepare high-quality credit presentations and loan packages for approval while maintaining sound underwriting standards.
  • Collaborate closely with Credit Administration to ensure timely underwriting and loan approvals.
  • Cross-sell treasury management, deposit services, merchant processing, wealth management, and additional banking products to deepen customer relationships.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, identify potential risks, and proactively manage problem credits when necessary.
  • Maintain regular client contact through business visits, annual reviews, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, lending policies, and internal procedures.
  • Represent the bank through community organizations, professional associations, and local networking events.
  • Partner with internal teams to deliver exceptional customer service and seamless client experiences.
  • Mentor junior lenders and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing commercial banking culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of commercial banking or commercial relationship management experience.
  • Demonstrated success originating and managing commercial loan portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of commercial credit analysis, financial statement interpretation, and cash flow underwriting.
  • Experience with commercial real estate lending, C&I lending, and business development.
  • Proven ability to generate new business while maintaining long-term client relationships.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of banking regulations and commercial lending practices.
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and sound business judgment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departments.

Preferred Experience

  • Existing network of business and professional contacts within the Northern Idaho market.
  • Experience managing portfolios consisting of middle-market and privately held businesses.
  • Treasury Management sales experience.
  • Formal commercial credit training.
  • Advanced financial analysis and portfolio management experience.
